2019 VARIABLE RATE WORKSHOP!
Technology and Agriculture:
Using technology to proactively
to address low water years, water
calls and to keep aquifers as full as
possible was the topic of a recent
workshop.
Meet: Bill Marek - contractor, Juan Juarez- Miller/Coors Agronomist, KC Pinther - Magic Valley Agronomics, Matt Bingham-Fieldman and Carl Pendleton, Chairman of the board.
The Wood River SWCD received a special EQIP project for Variable Rate Irrigation:
Are you ready for REAL Irrgation Water Management?
Benefits:
Water Savings - 1.9 ac-ft / pivot
Energy Savings - 1300 KWH
Improve Yield Uniformity
Reduction in Deep Percolation
Nutrient Management
Project involves utilizing technology already in the pivot panel to change rotation speed to accommodate varying field conditions plus utilizing soil moisture sensors to fine tune irrigation timing and amount.
Project cost share:
* Field Mapping
* Irrigation Prescription
* Yield data and water applicaiton analysis
* Soil moisture sensors
* Annual account for online access to irrigation / weather data for up to 3 years.
